Mathias Gidsel will drive the fans crazy with his magnificent offensive actions

On Thursday, 13 January 2022, the Men’s EHF Euro 2022 begins and will take place in Hungary and Slovenia until 30 January 2022, where twenty-four nations will fight for the title of the 15th EHF European Championship.

However, we are facing the first Men’s EHF EURO with an unwanted guest, covid19, which is already causing many difficulties in preparing the national teams for the final phase. Several athletes tested positive, and several friendly matches were cancelled due to positive cases and

as a matter of precaution. I sincerely hope there will be a truce during the competition to watch another fantastic EHF Euro with the best handball in the world, emotion and spectacle.

I think we will be able to count on four nations fighting for the Men’s EHF Euro 2022 title:

Denmark, Spain, Norway, and France.

Prediction:

1. Denmark

The Danish team is undoubtedly the main contender to win the Men’s EHF EURO 2022, where they will do everything to clean up their image in the Men’s EHF EURO 2020, presenting the strongest, most balanced and deepest team of this Men’s EHF Euro with many world-

renowned stars. Where Mathias Gidsel, at 22 years old, presents himself as the star of the new generation and who will drive the fans crazy with his magnificent offensive actions.

2. Spain

The Spanish team, which will be trying to win their third gold medal, will have some newcomers to fill the absence of Viran Morros, Raul Entrerrios (retired), Sarmiento, and their star player Dujshebaev. It’s essential not to forget that Alex Dujshebaev was fundamental in the offensive process in the Men’s EHF EURO 2020 with 36 goals and 32 assists in the nine games played. However, it presents an influential collective, and they will undoubtedly be in the fight for the medals.

3. Norway

The Norwegian team is undoubtedly a case study as the best they managed was a 3rd at Men’s EHF Euro 2020 and two 2nd places at Men’s IHF WCh 2017 and Men’s IHF WCh 2019. However, in this Men’s EHF EURO 2022 with Sander Sagosen leading the way, Norway will have a say in the event even with the absences of Magnus Rod and Goran Johannessen.

4. France

The French team will feature absences such as Nedim Remili, Timothey N’Guessan, Luka Karabatic, Elhim Prandi and Valentin Porte. Still, the Olympic champions will be looking to achieve their fourth EHF European title to overtake Sweden at the top of teams with the most

EHF Euro gold medals. Naturally, the French team presents itself as less balanced due to the absences, which could keep them from fighting for the world title in the advanced stage.

In my opinion, the outsiders in this Men’s EHF Euro 2022 are Germany, Croatia and Hungary, who could have a say. The Hungarian team as hosts will rely on their home crowd. At the same time, Germany and Croatia will face the Men’s EHF Euro 2022 with many casualties, such as Paul Drux and Patrick Groetzki on the German side and Igor Karacic and Luka Stepancic on the Croatian side. It is also important to mention that Luka Cindric and Domagoj Duvnjak are not part of the Croatian team.

The underdogs of the Men’s EHF Euro 2022 is the Swedish team that can take advantage of the atypical situation to win the gold medal again, which has eluded them since 2020. In addition to Sweden, we must not forget Slovenia, one of the hosts, and the always tricky Iceland.

As far as unknowns at the EHF Euro 2022 are concerned, Serbia is the main candidate to fall short of expectations due to the 17 positive cases in its entourage. Alongside Serbia, another team facing significant difficulties is the Portuguese team, which undertook a team renewal

due to several injuries, such as injuries to André Gomes, Luís Frade, Pedro Portela, and the absence of all right-backs who participated in the last major competitions.

MVP – Mathias Gidsel (Danmark)

Top Scorer – Sander Sagonsen (Norway)

We have the only certainty that it will undoubtedly be a great show with fantastic moments that will drive all the fans crazy. I can’t wait for Thursday to come and kick off the Men’s EHF EURO 2022.
